2 Pro-Am Classes, the Prototype Challenge (PC) along the with GT Daytona (GTD) cars that compete for the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car Championship in their respective class.
With a new rule change in GTD Class this year the new Global FAI GT3 Spec brought more exciting racing. Christina Nielsen became the first woman driver to class win at at Sebring since Liz Halliday won back in 2006.
The day was absolutely beautiful, with clear skies and mid 70s temps with up to 13 mph wind.
On the Pole for PC was the #52 PR1 / Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca FLM09 Chevrolet Powered car. In the GTD series, on the pole is #23 Team Seattle Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R. The strategy to winning the race are to make no mistakes, a 40minute minimum for 1st driver change and will it be one or two pit stops.
The Prototype Challenge Checkers went to Tom Kimber-Smith #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports with Renger van der Zande #8 Starworks Motorsports Oreca Takes 2nd and Colin Braun brings the #54 Core Autosport with a 3rd place finish.
For the GTD Class, Team Seattle in their Porsche 911 GT3 R Takes 1st with
Alex Riberas and Mario Farnbacher at the wheel. In 2nd Place The Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT with Christina Nielsen and Alessandro Balzan with the driving duties. And in 3rd, Brandon Davis and James Davison TRG-AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
